Role Summary/Purpose: The Staff Engineer / Technologist demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. In this role you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy.

Essential Responsibilities: The Platform Software Architect is responsible for the technical leadership of embedded, real-time avionics software projects. The architect leads the development of high-level software requirements, the decomposition of the software into features and partitions, and the detailed designs leading to DO-178B, Level A/B certifiable systems that comply with long-term strategic roadmaps for the avionics product lines.
Execute with limited guidance the analysis / evaluation of assigned projects that meet business standards, practices and procedures and the product / program requirements
Recommend cost-effective approachs to meet the technical and program requirements
Formulate and implement plans to achieve technical requirements, schedules and contract commitments
Develop action plans to anticipate and respond to problems
Provide technical guidance to other personnel and assigned teams; mentor others in the organization
Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments
Lead or participate in organizational efforts in assigned projects and/or tasks
Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews with internal / external customers
Qualifications/Requirements: Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science
At least 5 additional years of experience in an engineering position
Knowledge of DO-178B, DO-254, and DO-297
AE-653 and complex RTOS and Board Support Development
Strong knowledge of software requirements and design methodology and tools
Ability to work with Designated Engineering Reps, SQA, Safety, Hardware, Test Equipment and vendors/suppiers
Hard realtime embedded software development and V&V experience
Proven ability to effect product / process / productivity improvements across the organization
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires access to controlled technology. To abide by Export Compliance regulations candidates must have either US Citizenship or US Permanent Resident Alien Status.
