Dassault Falcon Jet is responsible for selling and supporting Falcon business jets throughout the world. It is part of Dassault Aviation, a leading aerospace company with a presence in over 70 countries across 5 continents. We currently have an excellent opportunity for a Bilingual Senior Structures Engineer at our facility in Wilmington, Delaware.
BILINGUAL SENIOR STRUCTURES ENGINEER - TEB 1188
The Senior Structures Engineer will manage structural engineering support requests from first contact with the customer to delivery of the repair solution. Communicate with the customer point of contact to collect and evaluate damage maps and other relevant structural data. Strategically strengthen the processes and relationship with the OEM Design Engineering Department. Recommend repair solutions and coordinate structural repairs with Design Engineering. Be a champion of departmental process and efficiency improvements.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work directly with Falcon operators/repair centers and coordinate with Dassault Aviation to have structural repairs designed, modifications to wings, fuselage, skin, fairings, control surfaces, structural attachments, etc.
- Assist in the implementation of Dassault Aviation approved structural modifications and repairs
- Coordinate with internal departments, e.g., Spares, Technical Support, etc. to ensure efficient management of customer's structural repair requirements
- Provide assistance in the design, construction or use of special tooling/jigs required to accomplish structural repairs, refurbishing or modifications
- Supply substantiation data as needed for repairs or modifications to aircraft structures to satisfy FAA requirements
- Travel as necessary domestically or to foreign countries to investigate and evaluate aircraft, assist in repairs or assist in aircraft recoveries
- Work with DFJ Management to develop strategies and processes that reduce the response time to customers at a reasonable cost, while maintaining the highest standards of OEM Engineering
- Work on special projects/additional duties to this job as assigned by management
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be able to speak and write English and French fluently
- BS degree in Aeronautical, Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
- 5 years minimum of aeronautical structural design or repair experience
- Experience with metal and composite fiber repair
- FAR 25 Airworthiness Standards: Transport Category Aircraft and/or MMPDS (formerly MIL- Handbook 5) experience
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers in a professional manner
- Excellent technical writing skills
- Must be a team player with cooperative and helpful nature and have a strong aptitude for team leadership
- PC computer and CAD drawing experience
- Working knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- Experience working with structural repair manuals and illustrated parts catalogues
- Experience with Structural Stress calculations and/or working in a Stress Engineering environment is a plus
- Pilots and/or A&P license desired
- 2 years experience actual sheet metal repair or laboratory work desired
- Working knowledge of Finite Element Modeling/ 3D CAD using CATIA desired
